He graduated from University of Mining Technology, Ostrava, Czech Republic, with a Master of Science Degree. Since graduation, he has worked for a number of years in the petroleum industry and was with Sproule Associates of Calgary for 36 years. Since 2006, he has been active through his consulting company, Adur Energy Ltd., and is currently a director of a number of private and public oil and gas companies
